Dragon’s Hoard: The Home of Gaming

As you are probably well aware, there is a plethora of RPG sites and blogs out there, many of them being very influential in the gaming community. However, Sean Connors of TheOutsiders68 has spawned an ambitious campaign to build the best and most central hub for all things RPG.

“We see the fragmentation,” Sean writes, “where it is system vs system and edition vs edition in the RPG industry…” He is of course referring to the “edition-wars” that have been waging since the conception and release of Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition in 2008, and the continuation of 3rd edition through Paizo’s Pathfinder RPG the following year. Several other companies have since forged “retro-clones” replicating the old 1st edition rules.

While the industry is split, Sean has a vision for a unified community under a single banner. He and his team have set a goal to raise $25,000 with an Indiegogo project in order to fund a web site called Dragon’s Hoard that will do just that. I know, it sounds like a lot of money, but there is a list of perks that will be paid out to those whom contribute, as well as the licensing, copyrights, and several features that the web site will offer that must also be funded.

Sean’s vision is to equip the site with an auction house and store for buying and selling roleplaying game products with other gamers. The site will also feature a forums section for discussion of products and other gaming related talk. Companies will be able to share their products and ideas and receive instant feedback through the site.

To be honest, Dragon’s Hoard has a lot of potential and I really hope it succeeds, but it’s going to need our help. If you’re interested in learning more about it, check out their page at Indiegogo, and if it’s something you believe in, this is an opportunity for you to help make it happen!

The deadline to meet the $25,000 goal is Thursday, August 9 at 11:59 pm PT, less than five weeks away! Hurry on over and make your contribution today and/or share this with your friends or local gaming store before it’s too late!
